What is Kukicha? Kukicha aka-twig tea, is a traditional Japanese tea variety made from the stems and stalks of the tea shrub, the same plant that green tea and black tea are made from (Camellia sinensis), After the twigs are pruned from the shrub, they are steamed and dried, then aged and gently roasted. Why use Japanese tea? Tea is cultivated throughout Asia and each estate produces tea with its own unique characteristics. We also offer tea products from China (Golden Green Tea) and from Darjeeling, India (Organic Green Tea with Ginger). How does it taste? Pleasantly rich, nutty and roasted: far less stringent than green tea.

For maximum benefit, medicinal tea must be properly prepared. Pour 8 oz. freshly boiled water over a tea bag in a ceramic cup. Cover cup and steep 5 minutes. Water temperature, covering your cup and steeping time greatly influence the yield of beneficial components that will end up in your teacup.
