Our Organic Chamomile tea is a pleasant tasting Traditional Herbal Medicine (THM) with a long history of use dating back to ancient Greece and Egypt.
THMs are generally intended for self-care in common, non-serious conditions for which their use and evidence of efficacy is well-documented. According to the World Health Organization the use of chamomile tea for restlessness and mild cases of insomnia due to nervous disorders is supported by clinical data. The German Commission E has approved chamomile tea for gastrointestinal tract conditions. Today chamomile tea appears in the national pharmacopoeias and formularies of Germany, Egypt and India. In the 20th century, chamomile tea's traditional uses as a digestive aid for relief of indigestion, feeling of fullness and excess gas have been proven by extensive scientific investigation. Chamomile tea has carminative and antispasmodic actions, meaning that it can prevent and alleviate cramps in the gastrointestinal tract. Chamomile tea also has a proven calmative action and can be used for relief of restlessness. It is particularly useful for children with gastric indigestion associated with nervousness, tension or anxiety.*
