1. Gastric perfusion of this product to rat and rabbit yields preventive action on dietary fat metabolism disturbance. It markedly lowers the increase of serum TC, TG, LDL-C and TC/HDL-C(P<0.01 or P<0.05) induced by high fat diet.
2. After hyperlipemia has been formed in rabbit with high fat diet, this product markedly lowers TC, TG, LDL-C and TC/HDL-C(P<0.01 or P<0.05) by 4-week gastric perfusion. After 8-week perfusion, this product markedly lowers the TC content in the aorta and heart.(P<0.01), also markedly decreases the size and thickness of atherosclerotic plaque in the aorta (P<0.01). It also lowers the occurrence of coronary atherosclerosis and the degree of obstruction of the vessel lumen by the plaque (P<0.01 or P<0.05).
3. When rats and rabbits are administrated 0.5-2g/kg and 0.2-1.6g/kg respectively, there are no obvious effects on the body weight, food intake amount and behavior or appearance.
Experiments show that this product is an effective remedy for lowering blood lipid and atherosclerosis.
